So many rookies make the mistake of doing second, or third, things first.
Don’t fall into that trap. I did a number of times, and each time I had to back up and start over. The first thing you need to do is ‘think’ not ‘act’. There will be time for action later.
Right now you have to do some serious and intense thinking.
What kind of business do you want to build?
If you’re not crystal clear about the answer to that question then you are by no means ready for any kind of action. You first have to decide what kind of business you want.
Do you want to sell hard goods? Do you want to sell digital products? Which is best? Why? Do you have a product of your own to sell? Do you want one? Do you want to sell products for someone else? (This is called an “Affiliate Program”.) Is there really any profit in that?
You need to sit down with a pad of paper and think about these things.
Most of don’t have a product of our own when we first start out.
That’s ok, but you need to remember this:
It Is A Lot Easier To Find Or Create A Product That Already Has A Demand Than It Is To Create A Demand For A Product That Has None
The good news is that there are millions of products that people will snatch up quickly.
Now, I am going to give you my opinion on something. I personally love digital products over hard products. Why? Well, for starters, digital products never run out. Suppose I write a book and put it up for sale as a download. When I sell a copy, the customer can then download the book right to his computer. Is my originl still there? Of course. It never runs out. Even after millions of downloads. I say more about this on the “CBMall” page. It’s almost like creating something from nothing.
Before you can decide what kind of products you are going to sell, you must first decide what the ‘theme’ of your site is going to be. Since you can’t be everything to everyone you must find what is called a niche market. A niche is just a small segment of the internet surfers out there who are interested in a common theme.
In the next section we will learn the methods of picking your niche market, or as I like to refer to it, “Nichepicking”.
